Music with Performance

This course allows learners to develop practical skills in performing and creating music, while developing their understanding of music styles and concepts. They will meet the needs of a wide variety of learners with a range of musical interests.

In this strand, learners will develop their understanding of music concepts and musical literacy. They will develop their ability to recognise and distinguish level-specific music signs, symbols and concepts as they perform, create and listen to music.

This course involves learning two instruments.

Music with Technology

This course enable learners to develop practical technical skills and creative use of music technology in a range of straightforward contexts. The courses include some opportunities for personalisation and choice in selecting varied contexts for learning. This makes it suitable for a variety of learners with a range of musical interests.

In this strand, learners will develop their ability to express themselves through music, which encourages the development of creativity and independence. While developing original ideas for music and sound, learners will be able to express themselves musically and begin to critically reflect on their learning and the quality of their work.

This course does not involve learning an instrument.
