Lanark Grammar School

Cost of the School Day

Talking about money can be difficult. Many families feel uncomfortable talking about money and it can affect how students feel at school. We want every family in the Lanark Grammar School community to know support is available to reduce the cost of the school day. You will find information on our website about financial support available and how to access support including email links.

Scottish Child Payment

Scottish Child Payment helps towards the costs of supporting your family. It is a weekly payment of £25 that you can get for every child you look after who's under 16 years of age. You will get the payment every 4 weeks if your application is successful.

You may be able to get Scottish Child Payment if all of the following apply:

        • you live in Scotland
        • you or your partner are getting certain benefits or payments
        • you or your partner are the main person looking after a child who's under 16 years old

You can apply whether you are in work on not, if you or your partner are getting one or more of the following benefits:

        • Universal Credit
        • Child Tax Credit
        • Working Tax Credit
        • income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)

Social Security Scotland also accept claims if you alone are named on one of these benefits (if you are not named for the 3 benefits below, your partner should apply):

        • Pension Credit
        • Income Support
        • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

You can apply online at https://www.mygov.scot/scottish-child-payment/how-to-apply , by post or calling Social Security Scotland free on 0800 182 2222.

Eco-Boutique Uniform Exchange

We have a uniform exchange available at LGS. We promote full school uniform for security and a sense of belonging, but understand that there are costs involved for families. If your child requires any uniform pieces, or coats and shoes, we have a selection available in the EcoBoutique. If you have any uniform items that your child has grown out of, and could help another family, please donate them to us by contacting Mr Smith gw14smithrobert2@glow.sch.uk

Extra-curricular Events & Trips

At LGS we have Pupil Equity Funding available from the Scottish Government to support families with the cost of sending your child to school. If you are struggling to meet the cost of uniform, extra-curricular activities or trips etc., you can request support for funding by emailing Mr Smith gw14smithrobert2@glow.sch.uk or contacting your child's Pupil Support Teacher or Head of Year.
